Preparing For A New Year:

It is a hot July afternoon here in Carrboro and I am hoping we will get some rain today. It’s hard to believe but we are just about a month out of the 2010 Fall semester. This post is to help inform you guys on what’s going on with Campus Crossroads as we prepare for another wonderful year.

Passion 2011, Atlanta: We are planning on attending the Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA over Christmas Break. You can head over to the Passion website (http://268generation.com/passion2011/#/atlanta) for information. It will be a great time of worship, teaching, and fellowship.

Spring Break 2011, Haiti: It looks like we will be taking a second trip down to Haiti over Spring Break. We are keeping the numbers around 15 so please email graham@campuscrossroads.org if you are interested. More than likely we will be going through NW Haiti Christian Mission (http://www.nwhcm.org/). There will be an info session soon after Labor Day. Also, this year will attempt to learn some Haitian Creole in preparation of the trip.

That’s it for now. Be on the look out early next week on information regarding the first couple of weeks of school starting back. Enjoy the last part of your summer!

As most of you know, Campus Crossroads has been primarily a student church on the campus of UNC for 9 years now. We count it a privilege to serve the students here. Something that you may not know is that we have been praying for quite sometime for God to open the door for our congregation to be more multicultural and multigenerational. Last year, we took on what started out as an experiment with Church of the Harvest in Carrboro. Troy, the pastor, and I have been friends for many years and in a way, he is responsible for the initial doors to open for Campus Crossroads. The experiment was for us to look at our congregations and see how they could compliment one another if we were to meet together.

We decided a little over a year ago to begin the experiment. We looked at it more as a courtship. We began to meet together, first at Church of the Harvest during the summer, then on campus for the entire school year. It has been an amazing adventure. Everyone seems to be so excited about the church and what each congregation brings.

After the initial year, we have began the process of forming a joint board to oversee this next year and to plan what other transitions should be made. It is so exciting to see such wonderful people working together for the kingdom of God. Please continue to pray for us as we venture down this road and that God would give us all wisdom in the decisions we are making.

As many of you know, a tragedy happened this week. Jamie and Sam Ferrell, members of our church, lost their precious 3 month old son, Malachi. We can only imagine the pain they must be going through. We are currently taking up an offering to help them with costs or whatever they may need it for. Financial issues should be the last thing they have to think about at this moment. You can make a donation to them through our church simply by clicking the link below. Every dollar helps, and it is the least we can do. Please indicate in the memo box upon payment. “Malachi Fund”.
